Pea Soup (Bezelye Çorbası)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg peas (about 3 cups shelled)
  • 1 medium potato
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 small carrot
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 small cup (~100 ml) olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 bunch dill
  • 3 cups (200 ml each) water
  • 1 dessert spoon dried mint
  • Salt, black pepper

Instructions

First shell the peas and wash them thoroughly in plenty of water. (Frozen peas from the store can also be used.)

Peel the onion, potato, carrot, and garlic, then coarsely chop them.

Cooking

Add the peas together with all the other vegetables to a pressure cooker, pour in 3 cups of water, and cook over medium-high heat.

Once the steam indicator rises, reduce the heat and cook for another 10 minutes.

Release the steam, open the lid, and blend with a hand blender until smooth.

Add extra boiled water if needed to adjust the consistency.

Add the olive oil, salt, black pepper, dried mint, and finely chopped dill, and return to the heat.

Simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 15 minutes, then serve.
